Brian T. Shaw is a consumer rights attorney associated with the Law Office of Dimitrios Kolovos, LLC. His practice is focused on the protection and enforcement of consumer rights with a special emphasis on bringing, litigating, trying, and settling cases under the U.S. Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA). He is a member of the National Association of Consumer Advocates (NACA) and is admitted to practice law in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Mr. Shaw is also admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. On occasion, he has been temporarily admitted before the courts of other jurisdictions for the purposes of handling specific cases.
Mr. Shaw is a litigator. He has handled, tried, and settled a number of cases involving consumer law, criminal law, personal injury, property damage, and workers compensation both in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. In recent years, he has focused his practice on consumer law. He has successfully achieved a fair settlement in most cases but does not hesitate to bring cases to trial against unreasonable defendants where necessary to achieve consumer justice.
Prior to entering the legal profession, Mr. Shaw worked as an investigator handling insurance fraud and cases involving the sale of counterfeit products to the public. Through his experience as an investigator, he gained a valuable edge which has helped him in seeking the truth and in representing the interests of his clients.
Brian T. Shaw holds a Juris Doctor (J.D.) from Widener University School of Law and a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Criminal Justice from West Chester University of Pennsylvania. During law school, he participated in national and regional litigation and trial competitions against students from other law schools. He has volunteered as a judge for law school mock trials to aid in the sharpening of skills for the next generation of trial attorneys.
Mr. Shaw co-authored “Protecting Non-Debtors from Artificial or Pre-recorded Telephone Calls under the FDCPA and TCPA,” appearing in the October 2007 issue of The Consumer Advocate, a publication read by consumer rights attorneys throughout the nation. The article featured a case in which the plaintiff was allegedly harassed by a debt collector with a wrong telephone number.
